STONEHEAD CAD DESIGNS

Ian has been combining his sculpting talents with Roland CAD 3D scanning and 3D engarving for several years with great success. These machines are great for scanning original work and rescaling or combining one design with another.

Scaling buckle designs down to Key Chain and Badge sizes

Ian uses the Modela MDX20 along with various software design solutions including Rhinoceros and Carrara.

The MDX-20 has a working envelope of 8″ x 6″ x 23⁄8″. A fine and sensitive piezo-electric scanning needle records even delicate objects without damage or distortion and stores them as polygon mesh surface data which can be exported to other programs or milled out using the cutting spindle of this versatile machine.
